What Types of Viagra Are Available for Women?
While there are many women who take Cialis off-label to help with low libido, sildenafil wasn’t actually designed to treat this issue. In most cases, females who want to increase their sex drive should look to using medication that has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for this purpose.
These are Addyi (flibanserin) and Vyleesi (bremelanotide) and, while they’re both used to treat females suffering with low sexual desire, it’s often a good idea to first do a little research on Viagra for women and how these types of medications can help.
What is HSDD and how can female Viagra help
Vyleesi and Addyi were both developed to help treat women with hypoactive sexual desire disorder (commonly abbreviated to HSDD), which makes these prescription drugs significantly different to Viagra for men.
Sildenafil is typically used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), a condition that makes it difficult for a man to get an erection suitable enough for sex. Cialis and other brands of this prescription drug help by relaxing the muscles in the penis and increasing blood flow.
Flibanserin and bremelanotide however, have a different effect chemically. These will often boost the activity of dopamine and norepinephrine, both of which play an important role in a woman’s arousal. Most experts are likely to agree that women who want to treat HSDD would benefit more from researching (and selecting) a drug of this nature, over off-label Viagra or other ED treatment brands.
What is flibanserin, is it the same as Viagra?
Flibanserin generally comes in the form of a tablet and in most cases will need to be consumed at bedtime every day. The reason why it’s important to take the pill at this time of day is because it can help to reduce the risk of individuals suffering from low blood pressure, drowsiness and fainting whilst awake.
Grapefruit can increase the chance of side effects with this medicine, so it is advised for users to avoid eating grapefruit or drinking juice from this fruit unless stated otherwise by a pharmacist or doctor. As with most medication, users should avoid consuming alcohol – at least until the next day.
Does bremelanotide work like Viagra?
Where flibanserin usually comes in pill form, bremelanotide is injected under the skin. It’s advised that women use the injection at least 45 minutes before sexual activity (it’s always best to read all information carefully, or consult a pharmacist or doctor for help).
It’s important to remember that individuals should only use 1 injection every 24 hours, and no more than 8 in a one month period. The medicine may be faulty if it looks cloudy, has changed colour, or has any particles in it.
